<*+++<

Midnight on a lazy afternoon...
John Mayer playing for me in the background.
Makes me drift into nonexistent spaces
Where I see, not the glare of day at night
Rather, the chill of still air aft' the sun has slipped
Through the invisible slits of the sky.
It has left an eerie-beautiful violet hue
Cue for the deep-seated melancholics to run free.
There, where the scent of cut grass with bubble drops of dew
Envelopes every breath, I flick a light for my stale cigarette
Puffin away, dreamin of how this solitude could be better with company
Of one who comes into my life without
Too many ripples for the stillness.
Someone who generates
Comfortable silence,
She who can dig so deeply
Into my soul without any effort...
Someone who draws out
That better, but irretrievable side of me.
